Boston Dynamics

Boston Dynamics was founded in 1992 as a spin-off from the MIT Leg Lab. It sells the Spot quadruped for industrial inspection and the Stretch case-handling robot for warehouses. In January 2026 it unveiled the product version of its electric Atlas humanoid and began production at its Boston headquarters, with all 2026 Atlas deployments committed to Hyundai's Robotics Metaplant Application Center and Google DeepMind and further customers planned from early 2027. Hyundai Motor Group acquired a controlling interest in Boston Dynamics from SoftBank in 2021.
